When you become Jewish you learn a lot about the ideas: theology, holidays minor and major, Shabbat, Hebrew Bible, Talmud, Jewish law, marriage and mourning, Israel, the Holocaust. But what about all of the stuff, Jewish material culture: Jewish food, ritual objects that help us mark our homes as Jewish from the Mezuzah at the door to the candle sticks and the Havdalah set, Jewish clothes and jewelry and Jewish decorations. Where does all of this come from? What’s good? Join Henry Hollander, American Jewish University rabbinical student and Jewish bookseller on a tour of Jewish grocery stores, home goods suppliers, and stores selling Jewish gifts and religious articles. Sunday December 3rd from 10:30-12:30 with lunch following in a one of the local Kosher restaurants. Meet in front of Glatt Mart at 8708 W Pico Blvd.
